How to make money reselling cute collectibles
Buy at retail, sell on the secondary market, keep the difference.
The model is simple. A blind box costs $12 to $28 at retail. Some figures resell for two, five, or fifty times that, because they are rare, retired, or sold out. The profit is the resale price minus the platform fee minus what you paid. Everything else is execution: finding figures at retail, pricing them right, and picking the platform that takes the smallest cut.
The math on a real figure
The best flip in the database right now is the Mickey Mouse (Limited Edition) (Disney Doorables). It retails for $11.99 and typically resells for $400 to $1,500, a midpoint of about $950. Sell it on eBay at the midpoint and the fee is 13.25% plus $0.40, leaving about $811.73 of profit after the $11.99 retail cost. The same math works at every scale: a Sonny Angel secret that retails for $12.25 and resells around $155 leaves about $122 after eBay fees.
Most figures do not flip. Regulars usually resell near retail or below it, and Labubu regulars currently sell below their $27.99 retail. The money is in secrets, special editions, limited editions, and retired lines. The best figures to flip list ranks every figure by profit after fees.

Frequently asked questions
Is reselling collectibles legal?
Yes. Buying a figure at retail and reselling it is legal. What is not legal is selling counterfeits, so check every figure against the fake guide before you list it. Platforms have their own listing rules too, so read them for wherever you sell.
How much money do I need to start?
One blind box. Sonny Angel and Smiski boxes are $12.25 at retail, Doorables $11.99. Start with one figure you would be happy to keep if it does not sell, and only scale up once you have sold a few.
Do I need a business to resell?
No, not to start. Most people start as a hobby seller. If volume grows, a business structure and a separate bank account make bookkeeping easier, and sales income is taxable, so keep records from the first sale. This is general information, not tax advice.
